We all should thank the City of Mesquite for their efforts put forth to build this most needed landfill. The City has always had a place to dump trash, but until October 1, 1994 we all disposed of our trash into a "DUMP". The government started to impose certain regulations known as "Subtitle D" that required most "dumps" to be closed by a certain date. To own and operate a landfill, it would need to be brought up to "Subtitle D" standards. Thanks to the City's governing body, they elected to build a "Subtitle D" landfill which would service them for many years.
Virgin Valley Disposal operates the City of Mesquite's Municipal Class 1 Landfill. The landfill was designed for the Virgin Valley area. All customers who so choose to use this landfill will be charged by the cubic yard. All loads transported to the landfill must be covered and secured. For proper classification of the waste you bring to the landfill, gate keepers may ask specific questions about your load to better understand what type of waste you are bringing into the landfill.
